Though, I was quite aware of the fact that data backup is always a good practice but did not know that clone of Mac hard disk works as a boon to restore entire Mac machine. Let me narrate the whole episode by which I realized the importance to Clone Mac HDD.
My organization provided me Mac OS X based laptop and for the past one and a half years I am using this machine without any flaw. Since, Mac is one of the robust operating systems thus I never understand that why the system support of the organization takes the backup in the form of clone of my Mac regularly. However, another day after dropping my laptop due to some hurry, I understood the need and importance of this clone. To catch my flight while returning from a client meeting, I accidentally dropped my laptop not exactly on the floor but on the trolley which was carrying my bag. Though that accident was not very severe but when I tried to start my Mac, it didn’t start successfully. Therefore, to not to make things fussier I stopped using my Mac.
Next day, after returning to the office, when I explained the issue to system support they said that the laptop might be physically damaged and should be sent for repair and during this repairing time, I would be working on another Mac based laptop in which they would clone my older machine. That day I understood the reason behind creating the exact replica of my Mac. To enhance my knowledge, I asked to the system support manager about the software which the organization uses to clone Mac HDD. He said that we use Stellar Drive Clone software for cloning the Mac.
The reason for using this tool is its various advanced yet understandable features. With creating the clone of Mac hard drive efficiently to another hard drive, volume, folder, or network drive, the software also gives us the feature to resize the destination drive so that the remaining space on this drive (apart from used for clone) can be used. The software also gives the feature to create the image of any Mac volume or entire Mac hard drive this image can later be used to restore data. The software also has the option to create Bootable DVD and Minimal System which can be helpful in accessing the system, when our Mac OS fails to boot or crashes.
