Mac data recovery from crashed MacBook Pro

  3. Under Disk Utility, click on the 'First Aid' tab.
  4. Select the Mac OS X disk and click on the button 'Repair'.
  5. Try running the 'fsck' command by typing /sbin/fsck -fy at the command prompt.
  6. If you still fail to mount the hard drive, then you have to recover the data from the updated backup and make a fresh installation of the Mac OS X after formatting in order to resolve the issue.
